Why Cardiology? This 38-bed telemetry monitored nursing unit provides the opportunity to work with a wide variety of patients ranging in age from Adults to Geriatrics. The conditions that are within the scope of service for 4 south include but are not limited to the following:
Myocardial Infarction; including STEMI's; 'NSTEMI'
Coronary Artery Bypass
Pre/Post Heart Transplant Patients
Patients post Mitral Valve replacement
Patients post Aortic Valve replacement
Percutaneous Trans-luminal coronary angioplasty with or without stent placement
Patients with Congestive Heart Failure
Vascular surgeries including abdominal aortic aneurysm procedures
Thoracic surgeries to include lobectomy and thoracotomy patients
Patients with Ventricular Assist Devices (VADs)
Cardiogenic Intravenous Medication Therapy II.
Cardiothoracic Surgery, CVICU & EP Lab

Cardiology is a field where technology, resources and research are always being pushed to the highest level; 4 South is the setting where that takes place' -Director of Nursing Certifications: Ventricular Assistive Device Program, ACLS within 6 months Integration with the Organization: The Cardiac Care Unit works hand in hand with multidisciplinary teams of social services, case management, physical therapy, respiratory therapy and dietary. Care of patients on the Cardiac Care Unit are grounded on the principals of best evidence based practices to provide quality care to the patients. The unit values shared governance, professional growth, quality care & patient satisfaction to assist in fulfilling Baylor Scott & White's Mission values.Qualifications
Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
RN license required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Note:If you have less than 6 months of experience, we recommend that you apply to our nursing internship program. Internships are available for new graduates and experienced nurses in a variety of specialties. New classes begin in January, June, and September.
